Special Devotional Practices

Throughout the year the Drukpa Mila Center does various practices for special occasions on the Buddhist Calendar. Including Losar celebration, Saga Dawa, Dakini day, 1000 Buddha Day, Medicine Buddha Day and many more.

November 2006 Special Devotion: November 1, 2007

Lhabab Düchen : This is a special anniversary in Buddhism .  During his life on this earth realm, Buddha Shakyamuni went into the 33 Heaven realms where the Gods were living.  His mother was also reborn in a God realm after her death.  Buddha visited this realm for 3 months to give teachings about the path to Enlightenment and how to liberate from samsara.  His mother was liberated from the God realm and passed into Enlightenment.  After these 3 months, the Buddha descended back into the Human Realm to continue teachings.  It is said that on this day all actions, either positive or negative are magnified 1o million times.

To celebrate this day, the center in Boulder, CO is observing a meditation practice to the Buddha of Compassion, also known as Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig. During the meditation practice, 1000 Buddha of Compassion mantras will be recited and a tsok will follow the practice. This practice is at the request of His Holiness Ngawang Tenzin who is traveling in the US at this time.
